Botox® in the armpits for excessive sweating

Botulinum toxin is the active substance that causes a muscle to go into a relaxed state. Botox® is widely used to counteract and reduce facial wrinkles. As the muscles in the face relax, you counteract facial wrinkles. However, what many people don’t know is that Botox can also be used for excessive sweating. This is because it causes the sweat glands to temporarily stop working.

No more wet armpits

Everyone perspires, but not everyone perspires equally. Do you easily have wet spots in your shirts due to sweat sores? Or do you feel like you perspire excessively? Do you often feel uncomfortable because you smell quickly of sweat? Then you can have something done about it. After Botox treatment of the armpits, the sweat glands are temporarily shut down, preventing them from producing sweat.

Treatment

You come to the MOOI clinic for a consultation with the cosmetic doctor or plastic surgeon. It is a good idea to wax your armpits before the consultation. During the consultation, treatment, risks and aftercare will be discussed in detail. You will receive honest advice from us about the expected result, the repair and the exact cost. Often treatment can be performed immediately if desired. Schedule your consultation!

The treatment itself takes about 20 minutes. Most people find the punctures not painful and well tolerated.

Result

Two weeks after treatment, the results will be optimal, and you will be rid of your sweat sores for the time being. The sweat glands are completely eliminated for an average of 3 months, often it takes another 3 months after this before these glands are back to their former level of sweat production. So you often enjoy this treatment for almost six months.

FAQ on Botox in the armpits

Am I going to sweat more in other places after the treatment? And is there no harm in shutting down those sweat glands?

The armpits are about 2% of your total body surface area. You sweat all over your body without realizing it. Just cover your arm with a piece of plastic. If you treat 2% of your body surface with toxin, this will not make you sweat more in other places.

Are there any other risks associated with this treatment?

This is a treatment with the same risks as any other injectable treatment. The most common are redness and possibly bruising. They usually disappear within a few days.

I suffer from sweaty hands and/or feet, does the treatment work for this as well?

There is also a possibility of treating the sweat glands of the hands and feet. This does involve other risks. Our doctor will inform you about this if you are considering this treatment.

Will this also work for my forehead?

This anti-perspiration treatment also works on the forehead. Sometimes, forehead wrinkles may also become less as a result.

Can I return to work immediately after treatment?

After treatment, it is important not to sweat too much for the first 24 hours. So as long as your work is not too intense, you can just work.
