‘I find plastic surgery so fascinating because it is a very broad profession. It ranges from burn surgery through hand surgery to cosmetic surgery. It’s a challenge every time to meet the patient’s requirements.
Training
I studied medicine at the University of Aachen in Germany. At the University Hospital in Aachen, I completed my training as a plastic surgeon as well as a Fellowship in Hand Surgery. In the US, I did a Fellowship in Aesthetic Surgery through the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.
I received my PhD in Germany in 2004 on the thesis “Tierexperimentelle Untersuchungen zur Adipogenese in Gel-Trägern als Weichgewebsersatz. In 2016, I also received my PhD in the Netherlands for the thesis “Endothelial Progenitor cells: New ways to improving neovascularization in Plastic Surgery. I also contribute to scientific articles with great regularity.
I have been working as a plastic surgeon since 2009; I work at MUMC and VieCuri in Venlo.

Facts
I am a board member of the NVEPC and was a board member of the Dutch Society for Plastic Surgery (NVPC) from 2016 to 2019.
