You’ll be ecstatic after you achieve perfect harmony between your breasts and your body.
At MOOI Clinic, we’re all about helping you feel MOOI with breasts that suit your body. Breasts that are too large can get in the way feeling well proportioned. After a breast reduction, your breasts will suit the rest of your body and you’ll hopefully be able to put on sweater which shows off your cleavage with more confidence. If you’re thinking about a breast reduction, we at MOOI want to explore this with you. During the consultation with the plastic surgeon at our private clinic in Maastricht, we’ll tell you in detail what the options are and see what suits your figure best. We take all the time needed to answer your questions.
When to have a breast reduction?
You think your breasts are way too big and out of proportion to your body. In addition to not liking your breasts, you may also suffer from physical discomfort. Large (heavy) breasts can cause headaches and neck and back pain; they can also bother you when exercising.
During the consultation, we look not only at your desired volume, but also at the shape and desired position of your breasts. MOOI only performs procedures for uninsured care.

The breast surgery
The breast reduction takes place under general anesthesia so you won’t feel a thing. The anesthesiologist will put you under anesthesia in the OR. During surgery, we remove skin and glandular tissue on the underside of the breasts. This makes the breasts smaller and firmer. We usually move the nipple upward; we also often make the areola a little smaller so that it is in proportion to the smaller breast. The incisions are sutured with very fine suture material. There is a scar around the (smaller) areola, from nipple to lower inframammary fold and in the lower inframammary fold. Sometimes during surgery we place a thin tube (drain) in the breasts to ensure that wound fluid is drained properly. The procedure takes place under full anesthesia at one of our hospitals and takes about 90-120 minutes.
After surgery, your breasts will be wrapped in a firm compression bandage or you’ll be given a sports bra and taken to the recovery room.
You usually stay in the hospital for one night. If you do get to go home the same day, it’s important that you arrange for someone to take you home safely as you’re not allowed to drive yourself.
Aftercare and recovery
Before surgery, you’ll receive detailed post-operative and aftercare instructions from us. It’s important for your own recovery that you follow these carefully. You usually stay in the hospital for one night. If all goes well and the plastic surgeon approves, you may go home. You cannot drive yourself home, so make arrangements ahead of time for how you will get home safely. If drains are placed, they can almost always be removed the day after surgery. After two weeks, we take out the stitches.
It’s important to wear a good bra for the first six weeks as this gives great support to your breasts and combats swelling. In the first few weeks, take it easy and avoid strenuous exercise and lifting. The scars may be red and swollen but this gradually diminishes. In most cases, you can return to work after two weeks. You can resume sports slowly after six weeks.

Risks
As with any surgery, there is a chance of bleeding, infection or impaired wound healing with breast reduction. This is usually not serious and easily treated. Sometimes sensitive, subcutaneous thickening may occur. In most cases, these disappear by themselves over time. If that doesn’t happen, we can remove them surgically.
In a few cases, numbness of the nipples occurs and in very rare situations, loss of the nipple occurs.
QUIT SMOKING
We advise all our clients to quit smoking around the time of treatment. The same applies to the use of nicotine patches and gum. Smoking not only makes you less MOOI on the outside, but also on the inside. If you smoke, you have a higher risk of complications such as poor wound healing, skin shedding or respiratory problems with general anesthesia.

Operated by Dr. Booi. Breast reduction and liposuction of the hips and flanks. Very knowledgeable doctor, takes his time with you. He is honest and tells you what to expect, and what the pros and cons might be. For me, a big fat 10! My body is so much more beautiful than I ever dreamed.
I am very pleased with the result! Had my implants removed and also had a breast lift with reduction done. At first I was afraid of a “deflated” effect, but nothing happened of the sort. Dr. Meesters understands her profession extremely well.
