The contours and features of your face again the way you like it
MOOI Clinic likes to give you back your open mind, so you can feel like your younger self again. After a forehead elevator, not only will you have a younger look, but you will also feel more energetic because you can now stop lifting your eyebrows. As you consider having your eyebrows or forehead lifted, we’d like to tell you what your options are and what steps you can take. Of course, we will fully inform you during a consultation with the plastic surgeon at our private clinic located in Maastricht.
When to have a forehead elevator?
Many people report to MOOI Clinic for an eye elevator, or eyelid surgery. Aging skin causes excess skin around the eyes, eyebrows also sag and forehead wrinkles develop. This causes eye symptoms such as extra pressure and fatigue. In addition, a low position of the eyebrows can make it appear that you are tired, angry or gloomy. It can also cause extra pressure on your eyes and eyelids.
Filling forehead wrinkles with a filler
Forehead wrinkles can be filled using a filler, but low-hanging eyebrows usually won’t solve this. In addition, a filler always has a temporary effect, lasting from 8 to 12 months. To treat the low position of the eyebrow can be done in two ways: a direct brow elevator (corrects only the position of the eyebrows) or a forehead elevator (corrects both the position of the eyebrows and forehead wrinkles. To correct forehead wrinkles and low-hanging eyebrows, an open forehead elevator may be a solution.
When to have a brow elevator?
Both a brow elevator and a forehead elevator focus on lifting the eyebrows, but there are differences.

Combination with chemical peel
After a forehead elevator, certain wrinkles are greatly reduced or removed. However, this does not mean that your skin is in good condition. For example, if you have smoked a lot or had sun damage, you can use a chemical peel to renew your skin. At MOOI Clinic, you can go for the deep chemical peels that penetrate into the lower layers of skin (called the dermis or dermis). MOOI Clinic’s chemical peels contain not only trichloroacetic acid but also the substance phenol, which means the treatment should only be performed by a doctor. Ask about these treatments during a consultation.

The forehead elevator
A forehead elevator takes place under general anesthesia so you won’t feel a thing. The area to be operated on is first marked off and then disinfected and anesthetized. Depending on the technique chosen, special instruments are used to loosen the skin from the forehead to the eyebrows and slide it upward. Tightening the bony membrane raises the eyebrows to the proper height.
Aftercare and recovery
Usually you can go home the same day. A tulle bandage is applied; this stops swelling. Sometimes you will keep a thin drain after surgery to stop the accumulation of wound fluid and blood. That takes one to two days. Cooling goggles counteract any swollen eyelids.
For the first two weeks after surgery, the face is still swollen and blue. Taking it easy and cooling regularly is the motto. The swelling disappears after one to two weeks. Sutures are removed after two weeks; if screws are placed, they are removed after 3 weeks. Scars in the hairy scalp become lighter and lighter in color. You can already see results fairly immediately.
The scars are invisible at first glance. Even during your recovery and healing. They fall right into the hairline and the natural folds of your skin.
Risks
As with any surgery, there is a chance of bleeding, infection or impaired wound healing with a forehead elevator. In the vast majority of situations, this is not serious and is easily remedied. There is a small chance of injury to the facial nerve. This happens rarely and is usually transient in these rare cases. Read more about the possible risks and complications of plastic surgery here.
