Nasal lip fold fillers
A nasolabial fold is the line that runs from the side of your nose to the corners of your mouth and is sometimes called the smile line. As you age, this line can become deeper and more pronounced which can create a tired appearance. This line can be made to look less deep by injecting a filler into the skin. The result is skin that looks fuller and smoother. At MOOI Clinic, we work with several A-brand fillers to treat your nasolabial fold at our private clinic in Maastricht. How does a nasolabial fold occur?
A nasolabial fold results from the natural aging process of the skin and underlying tissue. As you age, your skin loses its elasticity and the tissues under your skin become thinner and lose their firmness. This can cause the skin along the side of the nose to begin to sag toward the corners of the mouth, creating a deeper crease.
Other factors that may contribute to the development of nasolabial folds include smoking, sun exposure, facial expressions and hereditary predisposition. Smoking, for example, can damage the skin and accelerate the breakdown of collagen, causing the skin to age faster. Sun exposure can also damage the skin and stimulate the breakdown of collagen and elastin which can contribute to the appearance of nasolabial folds.
What are the options for treating the nasolabial fold?
There are several options for reducing or removing the nasolabial fold, depending on the severity of the fold and your personal preferences. A popular and non-surgical option to reduce the nasolabial fold is to use fillers. This will fill the crease and firm the skin. The effect usually lasts for several months. If the nasolabial fold is very deep and pronounced, a facelift may be an option. With this treatment, the crease can be corrected by removing excess skin and tissue and firming the underlying muscles.
When do you use a filler treatment?
If the folds from the nose to the lips bother you, consider this treatment. A surgical procedure such as a facelift is still a step too far for you, but you do want to see immediately visible results. Fillers are therefore the perfect solution. The fillers instantly reduce the visibility of the deep folds and give you a more youthful appearance.
What brands does MOOI Clinic work with?
At MOOI Clinic, we work exclusively with a variety of A-brand fillers to treat your nasolabial fold. Our fillers are of the highest quality. At MOOI we work only with temporary fillers, as advised by the Dutch Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Dutch Society of Cosmetic Medicine. The body breaks these down on its own within three to 18 months.
Most fillers consist of the substance hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring sugar molecule present in large quantities in our skin. Hyaluronic acid fillers are made of synthetic hyaluronic acid, which is designed to mimic the natural hyaluronic acid in the body. When hyaluronic acid fillers are injected into the skin, it acts like a sponge that attracts and retains water, improving the volume and structure of the treated area. Hyaluronic acid fillers are safe because our bodies break down the substance over time. At MOOI Clinic we work with the A-brands of fillers such as: Belotero.
The filler treatment
In a nasolabial fold filler treatment, fillers are injected into the line that runs from your nose to the corners of your mouth. The fillers help restore volume and soften the skin, reducing the depth of the wrinkle. This makes for a younger, smoother and more MOOI appearance. Treatment begins with a consultation with one of our specialists to assess your facial contours and discuss your desired results. During the consultation, we will tell you about the various filler options, risks and benefits of treatment.
The treatment itself usually takes no longer than 20 minutes. The doctor will first apply a numbing cream to reduce the discomfort of the injections. Next, the doctor will carefully inject the filler into the nasolabial fold with a thin needle to increase volume and tighten the skin. The nasolabial fold filler treatment is a relatively quick and easy procedure with MOOI results and the difference is huge. The effect of treatment with fillers is immediately visible.
After treatment
After a nasolabial fold filler treatment, you basically don’t need recovery time and there is no pain afterward. In a few cases, bruising, some redness or minor swelling develops. These side effects are mild and disappear within a few days to a week. You may feel the filler during the first two weeks. But don’t worry, this isn’t visible and disappears after two weeks.
It’s important to rest your skin for the first 24 hours after the after treatment. Try to avoid strenuous exercise, sunlight and the use of makeup on treated skin.
Treatment of the nasolabial fold gives a MOOI result and will eliminate your tired look. You’ll have smoother and plumper skin which provides a more youthful appearance.
