Hyaluronic Acid and Collagen Fillers
It’s no secret that fillers are used to compensate for volume loss and to fill wrinkles. But do you know what substance is used? At MOOI Clinic, you can get hyaluronic acid fillers and collagen stimulating fillers. We work with both products at our private clinic in Maastricht and w’re are happy to advise you on choosing between the two. Schedule a consultation.
What does hyaluronic acid do?
Most fillers consist of the substance hyaluronic acid. This is a substance native to the body and so for this reason, it is also broken down slowly. Hyaluronic acid supports the skin to stay looking young. The substance keeps the skin balanced, protected and constantly renewing itself. In addition, hyaluronic acid also has the ability to attract and retain moisture. It provides better moisture absorption, keeping the skin well hydrated and looking firmer as well. Hyaluronic acid also helps maintain skin elasticity and combats skin aging. So, hyaluronic acid has tremendous benefits for the skin and is often one of the most popular ingredients you can find in your skin care. Choose a good day and night cream with hyaluronic acid to take care of your skin every day.
Hyaluronic acid fillers
Unfortunately, what a cream with hyaluronic acid lacks is the ability to make existing wrinkles disappear. If you suffer from loss of volume or deep wrinkles on your face, you have the option of making them disappear temporarily with the help of a hyaluronic acid filler. With hyaluronic acid fillers, you can improve the contours of your face and fill in wrinkles. A big advantage of these fillers is that you can dissolve hyaluronic acid fillers if something goes wrong. One drawback is that the filler dissolves on its own after 12 to 24 months and you have to repeat the treatment.
At MOOI Clinic, we work only with safe and temporary A-brand fillers such as Belotero and Juvéderm, as per the Dutch Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Dutch Society for Cosmetic Dermatology
Common treatments:
What does collagen do?
Collagen is an important protein that our bodies make. It is important for our entire body, but it also plays an important role in skin firmness and elasticity from the inside out. Up until the age of 25, our body can produce collagen well, but after that it is produced less and less. Are you reaching the beautiful age of 50? Then you can assume that your body is making very little collagen and loosing skin elasticity. Your skin is now getting saggier and thinner, which results in wrinkles.
Collagen Fillers
The term collagen fillers is not quite right because it actually refers to a collagen stimulator. The Radiesse® brand has a filler gel with a collagen stimulator (Calcium hydroxyapatite) added to it. This substance stimulates the skin to produce more collagen again, tightening and lifting the skin. New collagen is produced over the weeks and months following treatment, making sagging skin tighter and more elastic. The filler works immediately, but you get the best results after several months.
The filler treatment
The treatment itself usually takes no longer than 20 minutes. The doctor will first apply a numbing cream to reduce the discomfort of the injections. Then, the doctor will carefully inject the filler into the wrinkles with a thin needle to increase volume and tighten the skin. The effect of treatment with fillers is immediately visible.
